The GIP Grand Prix de France – Le Castellet is delighted to announce that Pirelli will be title sponsor of the Formula 1 Grand Prix de France for the second consecutive year. The eighth round of the 2019 FIA Formula 1 World Championship™ will be held at the legendary Circuit Paul Ricard from June 21-23.
Pirelli has been Formula 1© Global Tyre Partner since 2011 and – following the contract renewal announced last year – will retain this status until at least the end of 2023. The Italian firm’s history in Formula 1 dates back much further, to the very first race in World Championship history, back in 1950.
For this year’s race at Circuit Paul Ricard, which famously features a long straight as well as a wide variety of technical corners, Pirelli has nominated the C2, C3 and C4 compounds as the White hard, Yellow medium, and Red soft choices respectively. Pirelli is additionally the exclusive tyre supplier for Formula 2 and Formula 3, which will take place during the same weekend.
Giovanni Tronchetti Provera, Senior Vice President Prestige and Motorsport
“Traditionally, Pirelli has taken title sponsorships of two grands prix every year as Global Tyre Partner of Formula 1, underlining its role in the sport as a genuine partner rather than just a supplier. France has always been a key market for Pirelli, not only as a traditional heartland for motorsport in Europe, but also as part of Pirelli’s own rich history: the first major international victory for the Milan-based firm was the 1907 Peking to Paris road race, more than 110 years ago”.Gilles Dufeigneux, General Manager GIP Grand Prix de France – Le Castellet
“Thanks to the support of Pirelli, we are confident that the 2019 Formula 1 Grand Prix de France will be once again a great celebration for all the fans who will attend this unique event. We are delighted to continue this strong relationship with Pirelli and look forward to offering a great show to Formula 1 fans in France and around the world.”
